I am hoping someone can help. About 3 months ago, my daughter was given a D'uccle. She fell in love with him and would like to use him as 4-H project next year as long as we can find a female for him (we have to show as pairs in our county). Could someone tell me if he is a decent looking D'uccle..as we have no clue about the breed other than they are very loveable.

Here are a few pictures of him:

He's a beautiful boy! He should show well. Where are you located? That might help in finding a hen.

ChickiesMoma, it will be a little while. d'Uccles are slow to father, in general. But also, some have been crossbred and just don't have true d'Uccle feathering. I see that in my Lavenders, which is why I'm going to cross them with my MF since he has perfect feathering.

Thank you! He's such a dream. We are located in NW Ohio. Everyone we talk to about finding a hen looks at us like we are crazy...lol. He came from a....believe it or not..a garage sale that her grandfather went to this past spring. Of course, he can't remember which one:lol: He's her enabler...he loves bringing her new chickens. Any help you can share on finding Mills (his name) a girlfriend will be greatly appreciated.

You're a little far away for me

I have a batch of chicks I'm raising until September so I can pick new show birds and sell the rest at the show. If you look at my BYC page you can see what the parents look like. They never fail to win at show, even though they are getting 'old' for showbirds. My roo is gorgeous, but scarred up from battling a small dog to save his girls. The hens are soooo sweet!!

Your roo is BEAUTIFUL! And the girls are so cute! Will Mills continue to get more white with age or what he has is all he will get? She wants to show him as her 4-H project next year so we definitely need to learn what the standard is in Mille Fleur D'uccles And find the poor boy a girlfriend. He chicken dances our daughter all the time!!

Actually the end of August, we are heading to Alabama and going through TENN...who knows huh? Might have to convience hubby to make it September and include a detour.
