ZoomZoom does have that pullet look to it's beak to me! if it doesn't crow i would certainly keep it! that beak looks like it is long and gracefully sloping and no real hook to it like cockerels/roos tend to get.

i have a LF light brahma that has blue eyes that never changed over. sort of an interesting stair from her when you see those eyes looking your way!​

I think zoom zoom is a girl. My Mille pullets didn't have that black necklace around the back of their neck. Plus her color is lighter, and I've noticed that too between my males and females.

I wondered about ZZ myself when I first brought him/her? home and had Stuart to compare to. I thought that it was probably just that ZZ was a couple of weeks younger maybe. Not that I would be terribly disappointed if he turns out to be a she!

Hi guys, I'm a little behind the ball, as usual! I have fallen in love with the bearded D'ucle 3 hens I had given to me- what an honor, they are more white patterns. Nice lookers too!!!!
Of course, ignorence, I never realized that the differences, we have two rooz, one has the black tail, boots, under feathers are black, one is chestnut (both are mille fleurs) and the pullet is the same color as the all clear chestnut.
I want to show these birds next year and I'm trying to learn as much as I can and the assumption is that I'll need a bearded rooster and a non-bearded hen.

I welcome your opinions and would like to ask for suggestions to better the breed.

Spook, all d'Uccles are bearded. If they don't have beards then they are a different bird, called a booted bantam. If you want to post pics we will be happy to look at them!

chickhill, I'm still leaning towards pullet for ZZ, but time will tell.
