What do you all think -aside from the raggedy muddy foot feathers that have suffered since he's not a caged bird- He used to have NICE feathered feet. And he does have the vulture hocks, which have also suffered a bit outside.

Is this boy show potential?

Yes I would like to show them. I want to show my Porcelains and my two white boys. I do not have any hens for my whites yet and hope to buy some at a show or from the guy who originally bred my white boys. I just haven't called him yet. I also would llike to show one of my seramas. I have never shown before. The birds I bought had already been shown in Newnan and won. (the porcies) the white boys are young and haven't been shown yet but they are fabulous! I have got to learn how to get them clean and get their feet feathers nice and groomed up by then. I think the next Dalton show isn't until the new year but I'm not sure as of yet.

they are not laying regularly yet- I moved from one town to another and then moved their pens on them so that and the heat has put their laying off. When they pick up I will sell some eggs. I need to get pics of the SQ Porcelains. I have 2 mature roos and 8 adult hens as of right now and some younger ones that should start laying soon. I also have two millie pullets that are about 12 wks or so that are looking promising.

Teddizilla, I won't say your boy is not show quality but this is what they look for in a winning d'uccle: they must have feathering all the way down the middle toe, the heavier the better. the beard must be big and fluffy. Other than the lack of or very few middle toe feathers he looks good. I need to get some pics of my roos so you can see the difference with the toe feathering. They do NOT like the camera lol.

Here's one of my white roos. He is still young and the tail feathering is still maturing but VERY promising and hope to show him and his brother soon.

Thanks for the feedback, I am pretty sure that the foot feathering is his weak point. He does have feathering 2/3 down the middle toe which have all broken off from his freedom ranging. I have some younger ones with better foot feathering since they've been mostly in the coop and a confined run instead of in the yard. Maybe I'll post some pics of them in a few days. It is HOT here in MO! 100 degrees today!

But yes, vetgirl, you should show your birds, so you can have them NPIP tested, so I can buy some eggs from you!

so they test them at the show? Is that what that band on their leg is for? I cut one off the hen lol.
