I'm trying not to get my hopes up too much.

It's a funny thing, but the lady I got my whites from said she had blues and was going on and on about how pretty they are and how much better she likes them than self blue. So stumbling across a air of my own would be just entirely too sweet.

The roo, whom I named Midas, and the girlie are doing great! Everyone is drooling over him and my hubby is so glad that we got them. Midas is in a pen by himself for now and has been a very good boy since he doesn't have any girls to chase around. Once he is out of quarantine, he is going to get two of my MF girls to hang out with and keep him company, I just hope he likes them. The girlie has stolen my heart and is such a love bug. She snuggles right in my arm when I pick her up to cuddle her. Now, she just need a name.

If my project birds throw what's expected, I will have lavs again next year. I kept the one hen as a back up, to put with a project roo as well.

Glad Midas is behaving. he is very pretty, and my DH was kinda sad I was selling him. But I just don't have enough space for all the birds I have, and he was so high-strung he made me crazy. Now that he's in a new place he may be a much easier bird to deal with!

I was calling her Butterscotch, and she really is a sweetie!
Her gn sis that sliced her chest open seems to be improving. I have my fingers crossed because I really thought she was a goner when we got back from OH. I put antibiotics into her water Sunday through today and I think maybe that made a difference. Her wound has closed some and is no longer bleeding at all.

I am so curious to see what the blues look like as they grow. If they keep that pretty deep blue color, they are going to be to die for gorgeous.

I am glad the little GN is doing better. Something like that happening would be so scary, especially with as big as the cut was. I hope she makes a complete recovery for you.

Sorry to learn about your gn birds tho, Glad your little girl is doing better, it's amazing how/what a bird can recover from. A while back I had a little lav pullet that got out and neighbor dog attacked her, tore open throat and part of her breast exposed before I could get to her. She recover completely when I just knew she was a gonner. I'd love to see pics of your butterscotch so I'd have a better idea of the coloration...one little roo I have is a bit of an oddball and I'm wondering if he might be what you are calling butterscotch??

the term 'cull' could mean just separating them from your breeding flock. not everyone kills their birds when they say to cull, they rehome them as pets mostly. sometimes other breeders see good characteristics worth using in their breeding projects.

Not to change the subject but how's your cuckoo fav program coming along?? I've not spoke with Peter lately but did chat with Henry a bit the other day

In my mind, it's like a gold version of lavender. Does that make sense?

This is butterscotch I got from Lori. Not the best pic, but she is beautiful. I will try to get her outside and get some better pics of her. She is a cream color all over, with gold tips on her feathers. So gorgeous!
