I thought they looked standard mille fleur and not blue at all.

But then, I'm also in the minority on loving porcelains. I can appreciate them, but they don't leap out and grab me the way the other colors do.

Here's what I know about space for "sale" birds.

The building that the show is held in has porch (for like of a better word to describe it) around 2 sides of the building which we cover with plastic to keep out the wind and last year they were heaters in this area.

Sale cages are $3.00 each and you need to let us know if they are for large fowl.

Most people put a sign on the cage with Breed, Price, and Telephone number that way if some one wants to purchase said bird they will able to get in contact.

There will be people set up in the parking lot with birds and other poultry related items for sale. This space is free.

Hope this helps!

Oh, Misty, that would be awesome if I lucked out and got all blue milles! I'll post pics as I'm able to take them. I had to squat down, hold the infrared light out of the way with my left hand, while taking the pic with my right hand and trying to avoid Nugget, who wanted to peck at the camera-monster, LOL. She doesn't care if I pick up her babies, but she isn't too thrilled by the camera. The snow is melting, but it's slushy and muddy and generally yukky out there.

I started out having zero interest in bantams, then got one from the feed store for a solo hatchling's buddy. That was my banty lav Cochin, Shadow. She turned out to be such a hoot, she changed my mind about little pocket chickens. She is such a diva! We call her "The Princess". Quite a character, that girl. Now, I'll have her a pint sized hubby to boss around, either from the D'Uccles or the D'Anvers.

Lori, I love lavender and porcelain, both, but the pocelains just glow. I'm not a fan of those colors in standard breeds (IS there a porcelain anything in standard?), but I love them in the little ones.

I don't think they look blue either .. the color on the wings is waaaaaaay to dark, imo.

Good to know, THANKS!

I did read that the sale cages were $3 each, but the info also said they're free for exhibitors. We'll see! As long as there is a semi-warm space, I'd be happier.
I'll probably leave DD or DH to watch the sale cages while I 'network'

You may very well be right Deb, I was judging by the down mostly, but the 1 chick still stands out to me.
Yes Cynthia, time will tell hun and I may be totally wrong, I'm just stabbing at it with the new pics. If they are lighter and showing no black, then they are in fact blue. If wings/bows are showing black, then of course they would not be blue

Hope I didnt get anyones hopes up, my puter laptop has a tendancy to show pics much darker than some actually are.

Predicting color is as easy as predicting gender

Doesn't help that these guys change soooooo much during the first few months of life. And then change again with each subsequent molt!
Honestly, they make chicken hoarding easy, because you never know quite how they'll turn out.

I need more cockerals like I need additional holes in my head.
That said, I have 3 I'd really like to keep (to see how they turn out, of course) and am hoping for another one (lav) from GC's eggs.

Oh, gee, Lori, I thought you were coming down here to get one of these if I have an extra boy!

Seems like these change as much as Delawares as they grow. You almost have to keep those till adulthood before culling any. The closest I've some to having a Mille Fleur anything was my Speckled Sussex hen, Nelda, may she rest in peace. She changed a ton before she was grown and with each molt, became lighter and lighter. Pretty girl, my Nelda.

I don't keep blue millies or porcelains. Both look like someone dunked a perfectly good millie into a bleaching agent of some sort.

Yes, they change and change again, as the color gets pushed around by other colors. And then later in life millies get more white with every molt.
It's kinda cool if you only have a few and can watch the millies every day. You can almost see the red pushing the black into place on some feathers.
