D'uccle Thread

When I go to the Cocke County Poultry show I will ask where the dunkles are cooped in, because that's what they call them there

So Ive been thinking about those fancy feathered feet....is there any tips on keeping them "nice" ? all my chickens have very large (dirt) runs and coops with deep litter.I usually let them into the backyard to roam around and eat grass and whatevver else they want (compost pile) every day. Should I put rocks, cinder blocks etc in the run? Does it seem like jumping up on things saves the feet feathers or damages it more?

They will perch on anything they can, whether you want them to or not (she posts, sighing at the thought of birds perching on the waterers...)

I have play sand in my runs, shavings in th coop. I also feed a little heavier on protein to help grow the feathers in. I let my birds free-range any time I can be home to watch them. I don't have perfect foot feathers, but they're pretty good!

I have 2 mille fleur D'uccles, one pullet, one cockerel. Both were straight run and that's what I got. I notice that they little boy is starting to color out, while the little girl, who is older and bigger, is still buff colored, tho quite a bit more face-fluff and beard. Do the boys color out more quickly than the girls? When will she begin to color out? They are still tiny, but fully feathered and outside with the bigguns.
