Maturity rate isnt the issue in the breed (for me), and IMHO some (most) breeders eveluate their stock at to 'tender of an age'...but that's just my personal experience, not pointing fingers...lol

I should add here, birds with no serious/obvious faults...those kido's get culled from the get-go
The rest I wait and evaluate at an older age, as some do mature slower (like Lori stated) especially birds w/lavender heritage. I kick em all outside, even the girls, and let them range in grow-out pens till old enough to determine who and what is valuable to my program, then I select and cull again
