D'uccle Thread

She looks cute! Her markings are really uniform and she doesn't have too much white, which is good. I do think her upper beak looks a little overgrown, I've clipped beaks back with dog nail trimmers, but it's nerve racking, I get scared I'm going to hurt them or clip the beak too short. Maybe someone here has trimming advice?
i have a mille fleur hen that is about 8 mouths old. she is a sweet heart and is very easy to handle. i was wondering if anyone could help me figurre out if she is show quality. i think she is but i see a few this that aren't quit perfect. but im not really 100% shore what to look for in a show bird. i have a few pics of her. also i was wondering if anyone knows of some good show books to get.

Ugh. I found the USB, but of course now we cant find the camera :/ I hate it when that happens!

Beautiful chickens! milliefleur, she looks pretty nice! I like her markings. Her foot feathers are really nice too!

thanks i appreciate all the complements on my hen. i hope to get many more like her. in may i am getting some peeps from A&J farm and i can't what. i am getting 10 blue mille fleur d'uccles, 10 porcelains d'uccles and i wanted some golden neck but they were out for this year. i can what any one else ever get from A&J farms?

She has a nice fluffy beard! I am sorry to hear about your poor mille girl. I am going to hold off on sending out any mille eggs from my existing pen as I just had a broody hatch 2 weeks ago with a blind chick, then someone who just hatched some eggs from my milles also hatched a blind chick! I am wondering if this is just a fluke or if one of my older hens is having genetic issues. So I will be down to one mille hen who is currently raising a chick who I know is not throwing abnormals, and the three mille fleur roosters I have in their own cages to keep pretty for the show this month. Has anyone else hatched a bug-eyed- chick from any of my eggs or anyone else's eggs? I know there are a percentage of abnormals in any hatch, but I sure don't want to perpetuate it!

hey teddi heres crystal...

im guessing from the one on the left :D

Awesome! Their daddy has calmed down in rooster jail and is no longer being mean. He no longer tries to 'get' me if I am standing in his chicken tractor and is taking treats from me again. I think he is just territorial and a bit protective of his hens. Moonchild, your girls seem to have really pretty coloring and patterns, so I will definitely be putting him back in the saddle in a few weeks with my current broody who is raising 1 chick and who has started laying again.
