D'uccle Thread

I have a dark brown with "reddish leakage" and some orange lacing, D'uccle pullet. I was told that she is a brown red. Is that a real (recognized) color? I can post pictures if you want.
Thanks!

Oh, thank you.

Have you collected any eggs today?

Spent all day yesterday at the show. It took longer than we expected. Left the house at 6:30am and got home around 6pm.

Might've gotten home earlier, but there was a mother who got there after the show was over, while we were cleaning up. Her son was clearly special needs, and when he expressed his sorrow that the silkies were gone, I offered to get mine back out so he could see them. He was thrilled! It turns out silkies & d'Uccles are the breeds he really wants for pets, as soon as his mom gets a coop set up for bantams. We neded up showing him a sample of all the colors of birds, and he would've kept us there longer but my daughter was expecting company and we needed to get home. I definitely made a new friend, though!!

Anyway, the birds did well. I got Best of Breed with my millie hen, as well as Best & Reserve of Variety for millies, blacks & self-blues. A competitor's pretty porcelain hen got Reserve of Breed, though. My buff silkies did okay, and my buff pullet got Reserve of Variety. Over-all, I was very pleased with the day.

Today was spent catching up on yard work. I let some of the birds out to play while raking. We had the radio playing while I watched my millie rooster try to woo the best buff silkie pullet. She was NOT interested! Then, a song came on and I grabbed the camera...

Congratulations on your wins and what a cute video! He sure is interested in her!

Thanks!
He wanted her BAD but she wouldn't give him any attention at all. The one time he grabbed her, she dragged him around and made him look like a fool. I had a lot of good belly laughs today, watching my birds!

That was a cute video. My new pumpkin boy will chase a hen until he catches her, then he will hang on until she just gives up. He is VERY persistent. Isn't it fun watching these guys? I've cut waaaay down on tv.

One baby lemon spangled hamburg was born for my citron d'uccle project. These are his/her parents.
