Why do people rate mixed color eggs as less valuable?

I don't understand question.

Sorry, I guess it was kind of confusing.

Well, when people put a porcelain rooster with a porcelain hen, they can sell their eggs for more, then say, a mille fleur rooster with a mottled hen (I'm making the combos up). Why?

If you put a Mottled Roo over a Mille or a Blue Mottled you can get any combination . My Black Mottled over Mille, the first hatch I got Blue and Black Mottled, Mille's and Blue Mille's. after that hatch nothing but black and blue mottled have been hatching. I sold those cheaper because you don't know what you are getting, and raised the price since I penned up by variety. Does that help.

BYC won't upload photos for me. Not sure why, but it makes me unhappy.....

I took some pics of each d'Uccle breeding pen today and also my possible mahogany mille cockeral.
Going to have to update my website with the photos, I guess.


I found a couple of fresh eggs today as I was cleaning up and rearranging some broodies. 2 from the millie pen, which stunned me, and 2 in the self-blue pen. I knew one self-blue was laying because she laid an egg in a show cage yesterday. But I guess the hen that's molting is laying again as well.

The weather is supposed to get back into the 60's by next weekend, so I am hopeful the gals will lay some BYC Hatchathon eggs for some of you.

In the meantime, DH is not terribly amused that I plan to set all the random eggs that come along in the meantime. You know; to prove viability

Bought 8 Mille Fluers today. One is just a booted and the others are bearded. I'm sure a couple are pullets but the rest I'm not sure. Here are some pictures:
