Cute! You can't really determine what gender they are until they are at least 5-6 weeks old. One sign though, is how fast their feathers grow in compared to another chick close in age. At least that is what I have heard. Again, so cute!

Haha! I just have to say that your sentence sounded like you were "cooking and taming" kids! I know what you actually meant. You can go to the "Social" part of the forum where there is "Random Ramblings" and stuff like that for advice on "cooking and taming" unruly youth. Lol!

How old do they have to be for gender to be determined?
Here are a couple a little over a week old. I'm guessing its probably to early?

By the time they are 6-8 weeks old, we'll be able to tell gender pretty accurately. So far, neither chick is looking like a rooster.

6 weeks will give you a pretty good determination by comb.
