D'uccle's leg feathers breaking

Hi, My sweet D'uccle roo has trouble getting around with all his leg feathers, and they tend to break. Is there a safe length I could maybe trim his feathers to so it doesn't cause him as much annoyance and breakage? I dont want to hit the quick or hurt him, but I also want him to be comfortable, and if theres a safe way to do that Id love to take the edges off. Ive only ever done a wing clip, never other feathers.

By the time feathers fully grow out, they can safely be trimmed to most any length you desire. The blood source resides mostly below the skin surface.
