I’m sorry to hear that! A long time ago I had chickens and it always seemed that my favourite one would be the one to get taken by a fox or a hawk.Today I lost 2 beautiful ducks. While I was at school and the ducks were free ranging a fox came along and took 2. Of course the ducks were taken and not the drakes I'm having to cull. One of them was a young girl who would've been starting to lay soon. The second was the saddest. She was the mama duck who laid almost as much as chooks do. She has laid 2 clutches with 20 odd eggs in each, hatched out one of the clutches (11 ducklings hatched from her clutch and she looked after them all so well), laid all the other eggs I grabbed and was still laying. I don't know how she done it. She was my sister's favorite.
This is her and her 11 babies last yearView attachment 2980991
Sorry, I'm a bit upset tonight. Thought you guys would understand. That's just the part of having animals I do not like.
So adorable! I bet they played hard and enjoyed every second of itWell, it finally got above freezing for the first time in maybe a month. I was finally able to get the “barn sour” girls out to bathe and play. Now there are 4 worn out and perfectly clean (for the moment) ducks. Do they all stick together all the time? Those GeeseView attachment 2981441
Everyone is really enjoying all the rain we're getting.
I've seen mine do it a few times. Always makes me think of men (sometimes women) bucking up to each other before a fight. Like "What?! What?! Say somethin! Say somethin'!"Have any of y'all noticed your ducks (I've only noticed the girls doing this) get really close to each other, chest to chest, standing as tall as possible, and quacking really fast? I'm curious if this is normal. If not, I need to get a video. My Aztec's do this, especially if I've been holding one of them for something. As soon as I put the one I'm holding back on the ground, the other hen will run over and they'll do that. They don't seem aggressive at all. I'm just curious
Yeah, for the most part they pretty much do! Occasionally a couple of the geese will pair off and wander by themselves but the ducks are always in a big group.Do they all stick together all the time? Those GeeseThey look like they're having the best time in their little stream

That's hilarious! I always think they're making fun of me when they do that. Standing tall like a person and then trying to talk like me. Just a duck impersonating a human as well as they can.
