If I were good enough sexing ducks I could know their gender now, but sadly I think I would end up saying all my ducks are females. :lau
I'm actually pretty good at it (I'm so not trying to brag tho, I shouldn't have done it by myself)🤣
I was so scared doing it my first time, but it went very smoothly! I was pleasantly surprised at how easy and not deadly it was.

I will try to practice some right now. I mean, I guess I should give it a shot. I’ll let you know how it goes. :fl

Do not press on the tummy though! Only the sides😉👌
Thanks for the advice. I gave it a try and I used my two khaki males and two females as a test since I know their gender already. I came away with both males having a bump that stuck out. I was expecting to see a small corkscrew type penis, but maybe I didn’t do it right? The females did not have the bump, the were just open. I then did the mystery duckies and it looked like two with a bump and one without.

Thanks! That’s probably because I give them 2 scoops of corn chops, 1 scoop of 20% crumble and like three full watermelons a day. :lau I don’t think any of mine would show very well though, cause I think good show quality runners have to be completely erect and they don’t weigh vary much like this.View attachment 2884521
That is hidious to me.
I checked and they have all their toes and I don’t see the other things either.
Yeah..
Typically one stripe means Mallard two stripes means Rouen.
But there are always exceptions to that rule. I remember a user on here that knew they had mallards and some of their ducklings had two stripes. 🤷‍♀️
The rules on selling domestic Mallards can kind of differ from state to state but typically yes they are supposed to have that dew claw removed.
But again people don't always do what they're supposed to either.

Duck eggs are going into lockdown later this afternoon. Just gotta wait for it to not be as bright because the laundry doesn’t have any blinds. I’ve got 14 duck eggs in there and a goose that’s probably infertile but I’ll check when I put them into lockdown. I’ve also got a broody sitting on 20 eggs so hopefully I get some from her. She’s been sitting for over a week now and should continue to sit. :fl

Hey everyone, after work today I stopped at my local feed store, while there I spotted some ducklings. In the end I just couldn’t help but buy a few of the little guys… They could possibly be a mix of Mallards and/or Rouens. Of the three, one has two black lines on its face and two have one line and a broken up line below that. Maybe one of you guys would know what those lines mean? I’ll show a pic. The one with the full bottom line is in front.View attachment 2884997
Such cuties! That is really disappointing that people don't care at all about animals.

I also just recently learned that not all Rouens have 2 stripes. Depends on how much the standard is maintained. And OMG, the standard Rouen looks fatter than a Pekin!

Take a look at them here... They are huge!

Wow, they definitely are big! The little guys really look like all the Rouen ducklings I’ve looked at, time will tell I guess. If mine are Rouens, I wonder if they are the standard type or the production type? I’ve seen a much smaller production type in the past thats not near as large as the standard.
