Duck Addicts Anonymous (DAA)

My big girls, a Pekin and a Buff, fight almost every day (I am probably exaggerating about the frequency but they do fight a lot especially for girls). They've been the only girls and together with me since at least a week old, if not before and they're over 2 years old now. One day it will look like Honey Boo Boo starts it but the next time it looks like Tom starts it. They nip and pull at each others chest feathers. It drives me crazy because Honey Boo Boo is handicapped, but she starts it at least half the time. I haven't noticed my bantam girls doing this. They definitely have plenty room, so I guess it's just something they do. The drakes just watch like 'here they go again' and then go about their day. So this is common?

I have named some of them! Their names aren’t that great though lol.

For the whites I’ve named the first two Posey and Petal. I haven’t named the other two yet.

The blue butterscotch is Apple lol. Parent was a silver Appleyard colored call.

Hannah my welshie girl used to do it to Honey and my drake would just sit back and watch.
These guys did it for a few days after I introduced them, they have mostly quit. They do still yank on feathers or push each other for the pool. My little buff boys nip that in the bud tho.

I wish Stormy or Reggie would do something about these girls but at over 2 years old, I think I should give up hoping that will happen. Those girls are silly. They switch between the two drakes every year. I guess it works for them

Pixie! I love that name. How is Princess? She is little tiny princess. We need to see some pictures of her. Are you going to breed her with a specific drake or let her choose?

Tom is really mad this day and actually wanted me to know it. I usually take her first but as you'll hear, Honey Boo Boo got carried up first. I believe that added to Tom's frustration

Tom is so cute! Some how ducks can be mad at you and complete adorable still.

I should have taken a video of my girl. She did it every night when we brought her inside. Of course we just laughed, talked about taking a video and never did.

What a great name!! I love it! I’m going to name the newest one Pixie!!

And Princess is wonderful! She just molted recently and has been getting in beautiful new feathers! I will be sure to get you some pictures of the little beauty tommorow! She does enjoy being the center of attention!

I am actually going to pair her with the white SQ drake (Pipkin) for a while to get some good quality Penciled calls. Then I will pair her with my blue fawn pied drake (Valentine). That will get me some nice quality blue fawn pied ducklings hopefully!
