Not that I've seen.

Mine just started doing it recently. It freaked me out a bit. When I bust their water to change it, they go crazy gobbling up the ice.

Except for Ralphie dux, they are smarter than that.

Yes! Only some of them but Lylah actually chews at the sheet of ice and seems very happy while she's doing it. Blue Belle also like to do this while perched on the side of their bowl (my only ducks that I've noticed balancing themselves very often on the side of those black rubber feed bowls. Diva started it and of course Belle had to copy her). I don't think I've noticed any of my drakes eating ice though. Then again, it's getting to be that time of the year when the drakes are gearing up (or rather winding up maybe ) to only have one thing on their minds

With this Avian Influenza here in NC and my wild resident Canada Geese guest (not necessarily welcomed guest but when has a Canada Goose ever waited on an invitation ) I have to carry my big ducks to their run in the morning and back to their duck house at night. Stormy doesn't like this one single bit. He gets as far away from me as possible while I'm carrying him. It's hilarious. He is known to bite but only if he's being held or carried. I was able to get a picture this morning. Do you think he could get any farther away from me while being carried? Can you imagine what's going through his mind? Of course as soon as I put him back on the ground he immediately flaps and shakes the human germs off.....

If I try to talk to him, he's so much worse Maybe to get through it he pretends its not happening

Overlook the dust and dirt on him. He's the 3rd one in line to be carried. He bills around in the shavings or has some breakfast while he waits his turn.

Hi all. I’ve got 6 call ducks under a year old. Four males. In early January two drakes began fussing with each other. A third drake (the alpha) would step in at times setting them straight. For a few days they were really at it and had to be separated. Since then it has calmed down overall among the group but a blue bibbed drake that was second in command seems to have fallen to the bottom of the order. I do not like seeing him constantly chased off & bullied by the drake that keeps harassing him. I’m in northeast PA if anyone is interested in giving him a peaceful new home. Very sweet & fully flighted. (Also posted in my states thread)
