This takes some explaining.
So I have a pond, shared by my ducks, geese, wild ducks, wild geese, wild north american coot, wild blue heron, and also ҉S҉҉N҉҉A҉҉P҉҉P҉҉I҉҉N҉҉G҉ ҉T҉҉U҉҉R҉҉T҉҉L҉҉E҉҉S҉
To deal with the ҉S҉҉N҉҉A҉҉P҉҉P҉҉I҉҉N҉҉G҉ ҉T҉҉U҉҉R҉҉T҉҉L҉҉E҉҉S҉ I made traps using a floater(ie. old milk jugs, bottles) with 2 feet of 50lb test fishing line with a 5/0 fishhook on it baited with a piece of fatty ham. the birds never bothered it, and the ҉S҉҉N҉҉A҉҉P҉҉P҉҉I҉҉N҉҉G҉ ҉T҉҉U҉҉R҉҉T҉҉L҉҉E҉҉S҉ loved it. so did the chickens they ate about 7 or 8 ҉S҉҉N҉҉A҉҉P҉҉P҉҉I҉҉N҉҉G҉ ҉T҉҉U҉҉R҉҉T҉҉L҉҉E҉҉S҉
apparently after all that happened I missed one of the bottles while I was collecting them, buried in some brush on the edge of the pond, and a duck found the ҉S҉҉N҉҉A҉҉P҉҉P҉҉I҉҉N҉҉G҉ ҉T҉҉U҉҉R҉҉T҉҉L҉҉E҉҉ trap and decided to eat the likely unbaited hook.the hook crook (idk) was under his tongue, the hook barb on the side of his bill, slightly poked into his skin, and the shaft was pressed up into his eye, he dragged the bottle(a glass one) about 200 feet from the pond and got it tangled on some plant something.
The hook was squeezing his eye shut, but as far as I could tell after I let him go he was fine, he went and had a dip in the pond, and then just hung out with the others like usual. Do I need to do anything more? the tip of the hook poked into his right (umm do ducks have cheeks?) anyway the barb didnt go in so it just came out like that.
Idk someone tell me what to do
Also someone tell me how to get rid of the ҉S҉҉N҉҉A҉҉P҉҉P҉҉I҉҉N҉҉G҉ ҉T҉҉U҉҉R҉҉T҉҉L҉҉E҉҉S҉, they learn every year, the traps only get a few and after a few potshots, they dont surface visibly in daytime, and the pond is infested with the ҉S҉҉N҉҉A҉҉P҉҉P҉҉I҉҉N҉҉G҉ ҉T҉҉U҉҉R҉҉T҉҉L҉҉E҉҉S҉ and they will eat ducklings like candy
we had one ҉S҉҉N҉҉A҉҉P҉҉P҉҉I҉҉N҉҉G҉ ҉T҉҉U҉҉R҉҉T҉҉L҉҉E҉so big he tried to eat a whole adult emden goose, but that emden goose was fifteen years old and as tough as a horse and also as strong as a horse he dragged the massive ҉T҉҉U҉҉R҉҉T҉҉L҉҉E҉҉ clear out of the pond and across the yard where we disposed of it
