My fiance stopped a fox from killing our duck tonight. She has a wound under her right wing. It is bleeding and she will not let us touch it. Is there anything I can do? Do I need to clean it or just take her to the vet? I need help, it is bleeding and she will not stretch it out. We are very fortunate that we caught this! I think she is still in shock, it happened less than 20 minutes ago. Thanks!

I would use some peroxide the 3% stuff and clean the wound. If its s not really large. Keep her warm and quiet. They can die from shock easily. If the wound is really large take her to a vet.

Well it has been a few days, she is off and on with things. The wound was not that big but it is effecting her wing and also her leg on the right side. She started laying eggs again today. I have had her in the house looking after her. I think she is getting too accustomed to the good treatment. LOL but I was looking for liquid antibiotics I could give her and I am not coming up with anything. Also trying to find something she will eat. It is freezing outside and there are no insects. She will not eat her corn or her pellets that she normally eats. I am going to try oatmeal now. She will eat small quantities of green leafy things, I gave her my mums(she always at those when she was free ranging outside) and that is all she is taking at the moment. She can't be put back outside yet because of her physical limitations at the moment. She can't step over anything, I gave her aspirin for the fever she had and I have put pedalyte in her water too. Is there anything else I should do? P.S. The wound cleaned up nicely and looks good, no oozing or anything like that. It is just taking her a while to recover and get back to eating or perhaps I am just impatient. Thanks for any and all input!
