Duck attacked by predator not sure how to bandage or medicate

I know this is an old post, but I just wanted to show my appreciation for the reassurance it gave me. Earlier this year our duck was mauled by a neighbor's dog who jumped our fence and had a similar injury. I definitely thought we would have to put him down, but this post convinced me otherwise.

Thanks to all the good advice here he's back to work in the garden this summer and doing great!
