I have a four month old duck - drake (?) we're still trying to figure out what they are - first time duck owners ( accidental event TT_TT).

So my duck does this thing where they start with nibbling at my toe and then hooks their lower beak/jaw under my toe or my slippers and then tries to place it in a death grip and like- i can't explain it very well, it looked very odd to me - they do a lile aggressive shimmy as if trying to shove my slippers' band or my toe fully in their mouth.

Can someone help me ;¬; i want to umderstand why my duck is acting aggressive lately- i provide good enrichment and food too so... I don't know what's going on...

And that makes them worse then because they really think we are theirs. My drake was raised by me because his mama attacked him when he hatched so of course in his pea brain I am his. He is the sweetest thing when not hormonal.
When introducing new birds drakes or females the best way is by placing them side by side with fencing in between letting them get to know each other. You can use a dog crate in the coop for the newcomer so there is peace overnight and no one getting beat up. It's a gradual process but it works best.

I have two out of my 5 boys that do this
Funny it’s the two that we gave a ton of attention to as babies
I had been keeping the girls and boys apart for night and sometimes in the day if the girls needed breaks
I found this made those two act out even more
I would carry a blue pool noodle with me and all I had to do was pull it out and they changed their minds
I guess because I used them to guide the ducks to bed at night and they didn’t want to go to bed 😂
I have never touched them with it so it’s not fear of that
But since hormones have calmed and everyone is together full time they haven’t done it at all
I would agree with others they the mine boy thinks you are his and he needs a friend :)

Is he your only duck? If so, you may want to find him some companions. You can get a couple more males for a bachelor flock, a lot of drakes are in need of good homes right now.
So I have the same problem with m Y drake only he's 2 years old and about 6 months ago I went got him 4 females but he acts like he doesn't like them and continues to "hump" my foot 😂 and not have anything to do with the other ducks
