Some girl besides one of the anconas in the seperate pen, laid an egg! It was either my magpie, runner, or a campbell. Hopefully the rest will start up! So I got that egg and my anconas, checked them, and they were both fertile! So was yesterdays! YIPPEEEEEEE!

Okay, change of plans.
I put my Magpie pair back in the breeding pen, without the black runner since my magpie drake had no interest in her before, and still dosen't. So My Chocolate Ancona drake is in the main pen with the ancona girls, campbell girls, and the black runner. I might let him breed with all of them and hatch them all... I have a dog crate in the maain pen, so I can put the Campbell girls in it at night so I know who is laying what. I pretty sure I will hatch the ancona/campbell cross. It would probably make heavily marked babies that would be chocolate and khaki, maybe some white spots. I think that would be cute. The dark chocolate, with the light khaki brown. Do you agree? Please give your opinion as I will be selling these ducklings. The Ancona with the Black Runner might be nice, because it would be sex-linked and I could tell what gender they are from birth (errrr...hatch), but then people would just buy the girls, and I would be stuck with boys. So probably no to that mix, besides Sherlock shows no interest in her.

I'm pretty sure that the chocolate/black sex-linking only works on SOLID black and chocolate birds, with pure colour linage. I'm sure your ducklings will sell like wildfire- just snap a couple of cute pics and they will be sold in a day or two

 Show me your eggs!   By the way Dan, I know you said you don't know what's in the eggs, that you didn't mind mutts. But I'm wondering what could be in there? What kinds of drakes and hens do you have?

I don't get tags and only just found this by accident so sorry for the delay

I'm down to 20 outta 34 in the first batch, 11 clears and 3 quitters (probably due to getting a double crested gene) Not terrible but I could have had better fertility. I set a second batch of 9 eggs in a bator my uncle loaned me for the foreseeable future and 7 of those eggs are developing the other two are clears.

First batch is on day 22 (6 more days!!! e) and the second is on day 16

The possibilities are, Pure Pekin, Pure Blue Swedish (in which case I'd get blacks too) Pekin X Mallard, Pekin X Blue Swedish and Blue Swedish X Mallard.

Oh yeah, today's egg was fertile. but I only got one. But the days are longer and warmer so production should get better soon!

Yeah! I got a video from today but they've gotten so big its hard to see anything but the aircell.


Not much, it's just around the corner. I'll likely be setting March 1st March 8th and the 15th
