Duck breeds

Those are khakis and rouens, no feed store will sell mallards because,
1. They are illegal in a lot of places
2. They are not good for meat or eggs
3. No hatchery that I know of sells them

Actually, there are quite a few hatcheries that sell day-old Mallard ducklings.

Im pretty sure keeping wild mallards is illegal (unless you have a license), but getting domestic ones isn’t. I’m not sure about it, as mallards aren’t native here.

You may have to get them pioned (def spelt that wrong) depending on your state (which is something here but in my state it isn’t required).

Our local Orscheln will order mallards from their contract hatchery if you show them a valid permit to own them.
 
I don't know anything about this other than that I found this:

You do not require a Federal permit to purchase, sell, or hold captive-reared, properly marked mallard ducks (50 CFR 21.13). You also do not require a Federal permit to purchase, sell, or hold captive-reared Muscovy ducks)
