duck = brocken leg

help i have a duck with a brocken leg,is there any thing i can do for her ? i will try to post pics tommarow or somin,but i dont want her to suffer, any reapies are helpful

Can you apply a splint? Wrap the leg in a cotton type padding...apply the splint...popsicle sticks..something strong...then wrap in another coton gauze...then cover with tape...medical tape is better, but you might have to take it to the vet. if its not a clean break..and you dont get it set straight...could get infected. Im so sorry to hear it broke its leg. Good luck with it.

we are going to look at it loser to see were she broke it ,and we have some ,tongue depressores and vet wrap to wrap the leg and we are going to try to fix it are self..
the leg is really swollen and bruising, and she is holding it out to the side of her boty?

update! she is putting a little wight on it this smorning and there is still swollen but she is walking a little better

We had one this spring that I figured was broken way up high - too high for a splint. We nursed it for a week though and it recovered - must have been either a dislocation or pulled tendon or some-such.

Young birds do heal fast, so if it can recover then it should just be a matter of a few days R&R.

i guess the leg is brocke or dilocated and the bones are tyring to regrow them selves together so she is using the broke leg like a peged leg but i dont think it will ever be normal but she is up and kinda woddling realy bad and runs out of energy fast but maby she can learn .
