I know the drill for breeding them lol. This Spring Backyard Poultry Magazine is putting a story about Aztecs in their rare breeds issue that I wrote. I'll check out your thread- it's hard to find other breeders. I had to hit the books about the porcelain/pastel difference. Porcelain is a Dusky pattern while Pastel is based on the Gray/Wild pattern. They do look pretty similar though
Oh, sorry if you thought that part of the post about how to breed for type was for you - that was for the OP, since they asked. That's why I had quoted their post and directed that part of my reply to them

Sorry for the confusion!
If Porcelain's supposed to be dusky, we have a bit of a problem with the existing stock, lol - none of them are dusky. Dusky would remove the eyestripes in the females and in males in eclipse plumage, and males in nuptial plumage would lack a throat ring and claret breast.
I've got a copy of the Standard from Holderread, and it doesn't seem to call for them to be dusky in pattern as far as the color goes, so I think that they're not actually supposed to be dusky.
Holderread has kind of a habit of them making up their own color names. I bet they just decided they liked Porcelain for the name and went with that. If you look at their list of available Silkie ducks right now, they have a ton of 'color names' that mean pretty much nothing to anyone but them, haha. Like 'chestnut' and 'harlequin' (which I personally would have thought was snowy since snowy is the harlequin gene, but a friend of mine contacted them asking about it and it's not).
Please do pop into my thread

I'd love to keep discussing this with you and don't wanna keep derailing the OP's thread, lol. I'm also curious where you got your stock - wondering if it might be the same people that mine came from. The person whom mine came from has also posted in my thread.
