Duck coop space and pool ideas?

We have landscape fabric covered with mulch in their run to keep the mud down but they can still get to the dirt/ mud around the edges of their run. I think between that and the walk up the ramp to the pool deck helps keep dirt out of their pool.
Our ducks spend a majority of their day in or next to the pool too, swimming and napping in there.
Will be nice when your babies are fully feathered and they can all hang out in the pool together :)
Can you post a picture of the way you built your deck around the pool please? I really like how you did that and it might be helpful

Aww geesh, our run and deck look like a child built them, lol. Actually, I think some children could build it better :)
We still had our old pool in 2 of the pics, it was great and the ducks loved it but took so long to drain and refill.

ya, that's great. I forget, is the pool you have now set down inside the deck you built around it or is it just sitting on top?
It's just sitting on top, I didn't want to modify the deck too much in case the new pool didn't work out. I'd never added a drain to anything before and so thought I'd mess it up or it would leak. They have a step to get into the pool and a clear stick on stair tread on the lip of the pool so they can grip on to get out.
We are lucky our ducks are pretty good with small steps and ramps, much more agile than I'd expected before we got ducks.
After building this first setup I have a better idea of what we do and don't want for an enclosure in the future. A coop and run that we (humans) can stand up and move around in is at the top of the list :)

Oh yes, You've seen my 2 pens and I just hate going in that small one that I can't stand up in. Bang head! The other is great! You are lucky you can drain downhill. I just went out to say hi to the ducks and their formally almost grass run is fully mudded now with all this rain and boy have they been worming in it. There are bill holes everywhere!

I like your pens very much, especially since they have that extra bit of shelter from the barn.
I can't even count the number of times I've gotten my hair stuck in the ends of the chicken wire around the door or when crawling onto their pool deck, how embarrassing for me, lol.
It is nice that all the water drains away from the house though I so wish we had a flat yard. Each has their own advantages :)

I know, that barn shelter is almost like it was made for ducks but actaully I think it was probably made for farm equipment to be stored back there!:lau I can see how hard it must be for you to crawl in their space. I'm way too old for that but when you get ready call me and I'll come help!:thumbsup

I'm looking forward to that! They want to, but Mocha, my Campbell is a pool hog! :rolleyes:Lol

I sure do look silly :) Need to get some plans drawn up and then building again...
