duck diapers?

This is so interesting. I have seen plenty of pictures with ducks and geese in diapers and have also considered getting one for occasional usage. I am getting my 2 Indian Runner females tomorrow in the mail from Metzers. I have a couple questions,

how early do you start the diapers: Earlier the better. Most order baby harness sets before the ducks arrive. They take awhile to make and usually are too big by the time they ship out. I'd probably wait for intermediate sizes

, AND with laying ducks does it create problems?

Nope the eggs usually fall in the back section. It'd probably have the occasional poop on it though.

I would love to take the ducks in the house from time to time and/or in the car or on walks but wouldn't want them to poop everywhere. On a related note about the walk harnesses and shoes...do ducks tend to follow their human "mommies" if you get them as chicks without leashes?

A imprinted duck with plenty of interaction may still be a bit standoffish. If your walking anywhere I'd advise the harness.

Or do any of you find that for outings it is best to have one? The shoes I can definitely see as a good thing to protect their feet...waterfowl have much more sensitive feet. Are they just like cloth covers like sled dogs sometimes wear?

Yes similar concept
I don't have any diaper ducks but I'll take a crack at it.

Thanks Kevin565, I have e-mailed Nettie about it, but haven't heard. The babies arrived this morning and are cuter than ever! Do you know anyone else who does them?

One more question, well two, the diapers on this site are for chickens AND ducks? And if I have week -old ducklings, will I need to upgrade sizes as they grow? You said intermediate sizes, about how old do they need to be?

Yes Chickens and Ducks. They are close enough with some of the physical features that it works. I believe for diaper sizes it's after 4 weeks that the intermediate sizes begin for some places. Ducks grow fast so they will need more than one harness in their life.
