The only problem I can say I've had with the Cayugas is, if you want them to raise ducklings mine have not been very good mothers. A couple of my girls really like to sit on eggs. But I have seen them flip out and kill them when they hatch.

Personality wise my Cayugas are my least favorite. They’re our most skittish by far!Do you enjoy the cayugas personality-wise?
I’m also wanting some buffs. I’ve never had runners, someday maybe. I’ve read on here other people having friendly fun personality Cayugas so don’t let my opinion sway you.I'm considering adding 3 ducks to my flock this spring. I know I want a buff and a fawn and white runner, but my son has really wanted a cayuga.
I love pekins! But I’ve also made the same decision due to the leg issues.Last spring I got a buff, a fawn and white runner, and a duclair. They're all great, although I just lost my runner due to prolapse. She was super cute and friendly. The buff is also super cute, a lot of personality, doesn't loved being touched, but sometimes will tolerate it. My duclair is super loud, sweet, and will stand still for petting. I know I've read that some people love their cayugas. My son's first choice is pekin, since his first three ducks were pekins and they're so friendly and fun. But we've lost two of them and I just won't have them again due to the issues with their legs and feet. I think ducks within breeds can have a lot of personality differences, so I will probably take my chances and try one.
