if a duck loses their oil glands due to injury or sicknessetc.a duck can easily drown. If they look like their sinking get them out right away! Males cause internal injuries and drowning especially if it's a deeper posted then they will did quicker...chris0117

I meant to say if the pond is deeper then their in much more danger.

When mine get to laying heavy their oil glands go wacky. I'm well aware to keep a close eye, but a new duck owner might not realize it's even possible for a duck to drown!

I forgot to mention, a cinder block helps, if they're unable to jump completely out of the pool, they can get on the cinder block and jump from there.
