Never been to a Cracker Barrel. I don't think they have them over here; the nearest one's in Idaho or Montana or somewhere else ridiculously far away.

My son is dating a CB waitress and she told me today they were warned by the company that they could not discuss this situation with the customers at all, no matter what. She also said they had quite a few customers coming in that wanted to discuss it and to complain. I told her that their wishy washy attitude in this situation lost them some customers out there.

I think I would have had more respect for them if they would have chosen a stand on it and stood firm..but to weeble back and forth, whichever way the wind blows shows they lack strength in their convictions.

Chik-Fil-A took a stance not long ago on this controversial topic and stood firm. They earned the respect of many customers...and even earned many new customers over it, and profited by it. I've never eaten there either but if I ever happen to be hungry in the area of the business, it will certainly get my money.

i just came on and read the last 3 or 4 pages. sorry if i have missed something important.

i still cant believe A&E's reaction to this.

i have never met Phil, but i understand how he thinks (to an extent). i will not judge you for who you date or what you do.on the other hand, if you ask my opinion, i will give it to you. you may not like the answer you receive, but im not going to sugar coat and censor myself to make everyone else happy.

maybe if we turned off the T.V., x-box, playstation, internet, radio, and spent some time teaching this younger generation some respect and rite from wrong; they wouldnt "feel bullied" when such comments are made.

modern media has desensitized us to the extent that even our consciences dont work the way they should. add on the fact that people are afraid to punish their kids, and schools not being able to paddle any more; and what we have right now is the result.

last week i witnessed 2 kids vandalizing a nativity scene at a local church. i pulled in and kept them there until a deputy showed up. he took them home, and told the parents what had happened. their reply was "the church is public property, they didnt do anything wrong". the parents have been arrested in the last year for making meth, the kids have both been expelled from school. they walk the roads all night, ive seen them outside in 20 degree weather with no coats over a mile from home. these kids have no guidance - and their parents just act like they dont care.

people in general really need to step back and look at their own lives. if we dont teach this generation properly, whatever happens to them is our own fault.

i did see that Jesse Jackson made a few comments about Phil's racial comments. here is my *opinion* on all of this as a whole. as long as there is an NAACP there will be racism. as long as gays fight loudly for their rights, there are going to be statements made. personally i do believe gays should be allowed to be formally committed as a family - they have every right to be just as miserable as the rest of us

.

as i said before, everyone needs to pay attention to their own life; and leave everyone else alone (until an opinion is asked). i dont get mad when someone calls me a redneck, breeder, freak, or "chicken man". my job causes lots of insults, if i let all of this get to me i would have a miserable life. instead i just hold firm to my beliefs, do my best not to judge; and realize that people who do judge will get theirs in the end - whether it be karma or St. Peter.

we all need to realize that we are the same on the insides, we all bleed red and burn black. we all desire companionship, we all laugh, we all cry, we all get scared, tired, and hurt. our skin color or sexual preference really doesnt matter (on the other end of this, i hate to see a man and woman making out in public just the same as same sex couples - if you dont want put down, dont make out in public).

there are much bigger issues than Phil's comments in this country and world. in the words of Garth Brooks "when there is only one race and that's mankind, then we shall be free". people are starving, being abused, and freezing to death, isn't that more important?

The issue isn't what anyone thinks about being gay; the issue is whether or not people still have the right to express their own opinions when they aren't at work. I suspect you would be displeased if your boss fired or suspended you for opinions you expressed off work. Especially if they were based on philosophy, religion, or culture.

Quote: i did want to point this out, when in battle several people (guessing 4 out of 5) who claimed to be atheist prayed. im guessing you've never been in that situation, the fear of bullets and bombs can change even the most hard headed of men.
I never claimed to be atheist. I have also been in a bad situation, minus bombs.

Where did you get your information from?
we will just say i have some military training. i never fought in a war, or seen any battle to speak of. it might be because when the atheist was younger his/her parents made them to to church, and it becomes an instant reaction. i really dont know why, just that it does happen.
