Hello! It’s day 27 for my duck egg in the incubator. We found it in the garden abandoned by its mum. I’ve been candling at the right times and have seen good progress. We went into lockdown on day 25 and since then nothing has happened apart from dark patches at each end. The dark rounded (not pointed) end does have what looks like a small nick in the shell which has been there since the start but doesn’t go all the way through so I left it. It looks like a weird brown colour on the inside but hard to tell. It’s worth noting too that the egg did roll slightly during lockdown when I knocked the incubator but I repositioned it.
The pics have a bit of a weird look as I took them through the plastic of the incubator but hopefully you can see the darker colour on each end.

Any tips? Should I just wait and see? Should I candle it for signs of life?
Thanks x

Candle it in a dark room and see if you see any movement in it.
Just had a look and don’t think I can see anything moving. It’s so dark though. I can still see a decent few veins and the air sack but it doesn’t look like it’s been internally pipped. Can’t hear anything inside the egg either. I’m so sad if it has died! How long should I leave it?

No movement with another candling and darkening had worsened. I did a float test as well and it hadn’t moved either. I braved an egg topsy today and it seems little duckie had been shrink wrapped I think from where the little nick in the shell was. Poor baby. Tiny and perfectly developed as well 😢
