Duck egg started to pip

Hello! This is our first time hatching a mallard duck egg. We are currently on day 27 and the incubator is on lockdown and this morning we noticed a first crack/pip on the shell. We saw the egg moving a little this afternoon, but since then we haven't seen any movement. Is it normal for the egg to have a quiet period, before hatching? Thank you for any advice!

Yup! Totally normal. In some of my ducks that resting period took 36 hours! So be prepared to wait. Ducks are very slow, but very successful hatchers. Good luck and welcome to BYC!
