Duck eggs day 22 questions

I don't, but this roo is so young.....and he is a large roo so a gentleman.

I'm not sure I will trim feathers. Listen to me... I gotta make sure I have a girl before I worry, lol.

I was getting 2-3 eggs a day. then a few days ago, I got 7, the next day 8, today 11.

WOW that's great! I sure hope are numbers improve. I might have to buy eggs for my Christmas baking

I am sooo excited my roo decided to fertilize these eggs!!! top pic 3 to the right are the 3 that are due in 1 week, the other 4 are for sure fertile and the lower ones are showing signs as well. I have 13 due then in 3 weeks I may add one more if my darned BCM gets off her lazy but and lays an egg.


These are before going into the incubator. The only one I cannot see into is one of the really dark ones. and yes the egg to the far right is gray.

YAY! WTG roo! Is that how it is with chickens? The rooster decides to fertilize or not? I've read with ducks that the girls actually have a way to deter sperm or accept it. Their way of choosing the macho male for off spring.

WOW those eggs are beautiful! That gray is awesome. What breed?

I did have to buy eggs

It felt weird, lol. I collected two out of 13 today

I have 10 Pekin eggs in the bator on day 4. I can't wait to candle. And now, my Blue Swedish duck has gone broody

She is sitting on 10 eggs

She will be a great momma.

That's great! I love how we can set the date we want

I thought my Blue Swedish was broody but yesterday she laid another egg and was off the nest

I candled the Pekin eggs last night; 6 are fertile
