Duck eggs - internal to external pip

Keep us updated! I think the one that pipped on the wrong end should be okay.
5 pips now. One was also underneath but still near the aircell end so hadn't noticed the pip. Hoping other 3 pip tonight and they might start zipping tomorrow. But I've heard that can take up to 48 hours itself. :barnie

The one that pipped the wrong end has a much larger crack in it. So at least it can get more air for now.

That’s great news! Glad that the one that is having some problems has a bigger crack now. I expect them to be out by Saturday, possibly late tomorrow. :celebrate

We had our first hatch while we were sleeping! Five other pips. Two still haven't externally pipped.

That is great news, congrats! It’s so cute! All of them should be out by late Saturday or early Sunday morning!
Congrats on the duckling anymore hatched yet?
7/8 hatched. However it was very assisted hatch. 2 aren't doing so well but survived the night. So I'll get some vitamins into them today somehow. They are weak and have gunky eyes. Any tips? I'm actually surprised to see them alive thus morning. 3 eggs under my hen all died. So I guess they all struggled. Most Stressful hatch ever.

I’m sorry that it was such a stressful hatch. It’s a good result though 7/8! For the 2 weak ones, I suggest you just give them vitamins and keep an eye on them, it’s all you can do for them, they may pass away due to hatching difficulties (is it the one that pipped the wrong end) or they may live but grow a bit slower.

If you haver some Terramycin eye ointment or neosporin will work too you could take a warm damp cloth and wipe their eyes then spread a thin amount around their eyes. Do you have Nutri Drench? that is a really good product for newly hatched poultry, It can be given straight and you can take a dropper and dribble it along their bill.

Im not sure we have those products here in Australia. On my way to pet supplies. I was going to use poultry vitamins (see pic) . Plus I thought saline or salt water for eyes. Hmm
