Duck eggs, Yuck???

I raise both ducks and chickens. My favorite egg for baking is a duck egg and the absolute best poached egg is a duck egg!
If you like large yolks, duck eggs are the way to go!

This just reminded me! (I talked to my mom a bit this morning) My mother will NOT eat brown eggs?! She always thought they were chemically altered somehow to have a pretty brown shell and they weren't natural?! I'm still shocked, and she KNOWS its not true now of course... but out of pure HABIT from when she was young... she still won't eat or buy them!?

Doesn't it ever make you wonder how these thoughts even got in their heads?!?!

We find that all the time. We do have a few customers who love the duck eggs, and some that only want them for baking, but for the most part people think it's really weird we eat duck eggs. As a matter of fact this past summer we had a surprise party for my aunt. We brought deviled eggs of course! Everyone who ate them thought they were fabulous! Most who knew they were duck eggs wouldn't touch them. We just laughed and told them they didn't know what they were missing.

Talking to my mom a bit ago I said to her " Wouldn't it be neat to just go into your backyard and get fresh eggs?" She replied "No, I'd rather get mine stamped from the store."
