Duck Eye Problem

Hello,

I noticed today that one of my young ducks (about 3 wks old) has some crustiness around it's eye. Also, it's eyelid seems to have more flesh exposed above it's eye than normal. Some of my chicks have the same problem. What is wrong? How do I treat it?

Could you post a picture? Are you providing deep enough water that they can dunk their heads in? Picture of your brooder setup would be helpful too.

As I looked one of the chicks has the same problem. Here's a pic of that. They have a normal chicken waterer, but I let them play in the pond fairly regularly. I can get a pic of the ducks if that's more helpful. Thanks!!

You need a eye wash a simple saline will work but better if you can get one that is made for Animals to clean it out I had one of my october babys with a similar issue. the artical I read was https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/eye-drops-for-ducks.692340/ I used a eyewash and a warm bath where she could do a little diving!

I didnt but that might not be the right answer Young runner ducks love to dive in the water so it was pretty easy getting her to do most of the work cleaning non of the other ducks did catch it I think they had a better amenity system and she just wasnt getting what she needed
