Duck Eye Worm??

We have a duckling (Muscovy) that we got at the beginning of the summer from a friend. It developed what we thought was an eye infection shortly after we had gotten it. It was all by itself for quite some time in a pen next to our rabbit.

We treated the duckling with Terramycin and the eye got better. No more issues. Till this week. She is several months old now and seemed to have a worm in that eye. See picture 1. We treated it with the same ointment and the next day it was gone. But now she has a red spot. See picture 2.

She could also be a he I’m not sure. Has been with all of our other ducks for over 2 months.

We live in Michigan and I’ve never heard of any cockroaches around here. I’m not sure if there are other hosts. I’m freaked out that our other birds will get it.

Any help or suggestions please

No, I've not encountered anything like that and hope I don't. That turns my stomach just thinking about it.

Thanks. Yeah I have never seen this either. I googled eye worm. Ugh. Nasty.

VetRX is suppose to get rid of eye worms.

Well not directly in the eye. But very near.

We do plan to get VetRx. But was just curious if anyone knew what it might be for sure. Thanks all.

Try the VetRX using a q tip and dab that place in the corner real good.

I read ivermectin can be used, too, but I can't imagine that'd be comfortable for the duckie.

You might try googling Myiasis. That looks more like an insect larva to me than a worm.
