Thanks everyone for the warm welcome! Yeah their home is definitely overbuilt. I wanted something pleasant for them that was easy to maintain and clean. I also wanted to capture all their wastes for easy export into the garden and trees.

I kinda wish it was bigger so I could get more ducks and have a bigger koi pond. But space is limited in the garden.

With springtime here and the pond waking up I thought I’d share some update pics! From the last year I added a few things. In their pen I added a second level (bunnies have 3!!) with a ramp leading to their pond which is now completely enclosed! A few months back I watched as our resident bobcat jumped the 8’ fence in a single bound.



All the trees are waking up as well. The stream is steadily filling with plants as the days get warmer.

The grape vines above the pond have budded already as well. Looking forward to a bountiful crop.


Little Duck Duck (my blind muscovy/Indian runner hybrid) enjoying a relaxing swim in the koi pond all by herself. Half the stream is already filled with water celery and the other half is slowly filling up. I’ve taken the opportunity to start some plants for the raised bed In the other half of the stream.


The ducks pond/filter. I redid the flow a little bit. The stream outflow to the duck pond now flows above the gravel filter. The gravel filter also has a series of perforated pvc pipes underneath that pushes water up the gravel bed. Not sure if it’ll improve things but I like tinkering and I needed to rip out all the blue iris and replant anyway.

The Tribe stormed the rabbits keep. They’re probably wondering why they don’t have a three tiered home


Of course the crafty bunnies responded in kind and raided the ducks pantry! Lol
