I went to buy some duck grower today from the Campbellford Co-op, the Duck Grower is 18% and its just about the only thing I can get that is non-medicated. Now, I realize that to prevent angel wing I should be feeding 15% at 4 weeks (which they are now), can I feed the 18%, restrict it, and feed greens on the side (they're out during the day on the lawn, and will be out in their duck house by the end of the weekend). I could take the food away at night, and give it back in the morning much like you do with Meat chicks?

I think if you feed alot of greens and keep the feed to small amounts you should be fine until you can get a 15% feed...That is what I did after 1 got angel wing on the 18% I feed tons of greens so they ate little feed I noticed it early and changed feed and started greens,,,I think that helped the others from getting it....My baby looked so sad wrapped up and alone the others kept picking at his wrap so he had to be by his self...

Its been 3 days I will have to take a new pick of him...

My problem is that I can't get 15%... our other co-op doesn't sell unmedicated, and the Purina one only has 18% ...

Do you think if I restrict the food, and feed greens as well that we'll be safe?... I haven't noticed any angel wing yet.

You could add some grains to the mix to cut the protein if you wanted.

I didnt start seeing the angel wing until his flight feathers started coming in..He was 6 weeks ..He is now today 8 weeks and he is fully feathered..Restricting the feed and tons of greens is what I did until I knew they were fully feathered then the 18% should be fine..My babies are now lose with the big ones and are always eating the big ducks feed it is 18% multi-flock game feed they still get theirs too its 15% I still give them peas they love them...

Awesome! ... I'll take the food away at night, and replace with some greens for the overnight. We have tons of 'mix veggies' that my mum doesn't like, ...my dad keeps buying them for some reason despite the fact that everyone hates them LOL.. I'm sure the ducks will love them. That'll save me on food too, if I feed during the day and keep just water and greens overnight. They're going out to the 90% finished duck house tonight! I can't wait!
