Do you really think the traumatic experience could be what did the poor boy in? I said he died of a broken heart because the poor little khaki girl was his favorite, but that's more romantic/poetic than scientific.

It's not uncommon. If he was in severe shock then it's possible.

A very long time ago I had a pair of silkies. A 2 legged predator stole the rooster, and did kill him in some ritual or something. ( currently serving time in the BIG HOUSE for unrelated crime).. One week later silkie hen passed.

She seemed healthy all along.. I belive it is very much possible. Who knows, maybe he kicked her away as he took the rooster???
