The other morning I was going to work and headed out of the holler when I saw my lil female duck beside the bank pouring blood from her mouth and nose with her neck held down, I jump out of car take my coat off and wrap it around her to keep her warm, her beak was side ways and she couldn't see much, now she won't eat or drink. Idk if her jaw is broken or what and she is suffering bad and I just don't want to put her down. What ever it was went in her little box that she was sitting on her eggs and grabbed her and drug her out and tried to kill her idk if it herd me coming up the holler and took off and that was why she was standing there lifeless on the side of the road or what. But whatever it is has killed 2 of my other ducks this week..idk what to do, anybody please help I can't afford to take her to the vet and I don't want to have to put her down

@mbt1985 Where is she now? you need to keep her warm for one thing she is most likely in shock and pain. If she won't eat or drink then your only options are putting her down or taking her to a vet she can't go long with out eating or drinking. I know you don't want to put her down but think about her and is she suffering and in pain? ducks can come back for horrific injuries but if her jaw is broken unless a vet helps she will not be able to eat and can die a sad death.

How long has it been since this happened? Did you lose the other ducks after this attack? where do you keep them?

Sounds like they may not have been in a secure area for a pred to get to them. I am so sorry for your loss.

I deffinently say get to a vet. Hopefully you have a vet that has experience with poultry. If she survives she will have a long road to recovery. I would check for other puncture wounds. It's hard to pinpoint predators some times but if it was close to sun up it could have been an owl. I have had a few come in at night and grab a duck and rip off the head and eat it. Dogs and coyotes will go for more of a body blow. Mink and weasels go after heads so they can drink the blood, but I see that more so in my ducklings. We have a building that we lock ours in or some of my hens hide in the barn. What kind of nest setup is it? Sending positive thoughts and hope you can save her if she can adapt to her injuries.

So sorry your dealing with this, but i ageee with miss lydia there are only a couple options.
Putting her down to end her suffering.. or take her to the vet. If you cant afford the vet the kindest thing to do is end the suffering. She must be in soo much pain

Unfortunately its something we have to deal with sometimes when we have animals. if she cannot eat then she is starving as well :(
