Duck grooming

Hey everyone ! I have a special duck that needs extra help grooming and eating .I can never seem to get him as clean as his friends outside can - anyone have any recommendations ? We already do weekly indoor bath soaks to get off extra poop

He can’t preen probably. How’d did his bill get like that? How does he eat? Maybe baby shampoo just on his butt feathers not a good idea to wash them all over in soap because it strips their oils they use to keep their feathers water proof. Tell us about him please.

I got him from tractor supply back in July He was hatched like that is my best guess. His three mates are all perfectly normal He eats pretty good. I have to supplement him a lot with shrimp and veggies - he’s a lot smaller than the others but always seems happy

Beautiful. It takes a really special person to take on a handicapped duck or any animal. Your a hero. They sure are beautiful! Can he preen at all and use his preen gland to water proof his feathers?

I’m not sure - I see him rub up along his friends a lot and it seems like they try and help - he seems to have a harder time though whenever he tries and grooms. Is there anything I can do to help him ? Maybe use a brush of some sort ? He’s my favorite and is always the first to come greet me - his name is rocky

They have three pools outside but he is a little bow legged and can’t seem to get in and out very well

Poor baby! I have one with a bill deformity too. When I feed him I feed him from a deep dish so that he can shovel the food in.
