Duck has hurt leg

I have a 10 week old mallard drake who is learning to fly. He took a couple laps around our barn last night then landed hard!! He limped painfully back to the barn then laid in the coop the rest of the evening. I can't feel any broken bones or any isolated heat but he doesn't want to move or put weight on it. I have him isolated from our chickens & other Mallard duck where he can see them but not get bothered. He's eating & drinking. I've not had much experience with ducks. Could it be sprained? Is it ok for him to swim if I put him in & out of the pool so he doesn't have to use his leg? Any advice would be appreciated!! Thanks!!

Could it be bruised? I once had a chick with a tiny bruise on her toe and she limped a bit.

Yes good idea to let him swim it takes I pressure off his legs but let’s him use his muscles. Good idea to give him 2-3 days or more of rest and hopefully he’ll be fine

I think it may be a sprain. He stood on it for a short bit this morning & stretched it but then laid back down. Hoping he will heal with rest!
