Duck has lost use of one leg. Please help

Hi Bao! Sorry your duck is having issues. I noticed in one picture, the limp leg looks a little fatter than the other one. Is it really, or does the pic just make it look that way?

Is the foot/leg extra warm or extra cold?

Have you tried wrapping it in any way to see if some extra support might allow her to walk on it?

Sorry, I'm just asking question and don't have much other advice than what has already been discussed. I'm wondering about her circulation, i guess.

Question....I've read that to much protein is associated with angel wing, is this true?

A few of my big ducks had some angel wings. From my research, the best conclusion I settled on was their fast growth, which could be related to the protein, but probably more likely genetic and their own appetite.

X2

Too high of protein consistently (like meatbird diet, 28% protein) *might* aggravate or cause angel wing to appear faster due to faster weight/muscle growth than is optimal for ducklings, most angel wing does appear to be more genetically baser than diet, IMO...

Hi! Sorry I don't get on as much as I used to...and I don't get email notices like I did on the old system. If anyone can help me with settings pkease do.

When she is in the water, do you see her stretch the leg out fully? The way she is holding the leg reminds me of Rowena, who has a slipped tendon. Rowena is a happy duck, but I need to manage her differently with that condition. Mostly I do not let her romp around as much - she can hop faster than some ducks walk! But she is tiny and I do not want her to injure the good leg. She gets plenty of swim time, lives with the other ducks, but I have a separating fence because the bigger ducks might injure her accidentally.

Reading this with interest.

I buy vitamins on line from a company called Vitacost. They have everything imaginable when it comes to vitamins and suppliments for animals as well as humans. I remember accidently buying regular niacin instead of the flush free from them. DH accidently took one. He suddenly had a lot of empathy for me and my hot flashes.:lau

They have very fast shipping and great customer service. You might want to give them a look/see: www.vitacost.com.

I sure hope your Duckette gets to feeling better.
