yay for your ducklings! What type were they? They are so cute and brave.
The one you made a hole in you will have to wet the membrane every two hours otherwise it'll shrink wrap and die. Easiest thing to do is peel away as much as you can without touching the membrane. Then get warm water and a q-tip and wet the membrane down, every two hours until it comes out. You may have to help it too. Taking off the shell speeds up the absorption but weakens the ducklingI had 4 of my ducklings hatch out of the 21 I set. A couple pipped into the air sack but never externally pipped, a couple look like they tried to pip in the wrong end, the rest just seem to have quit right before it was time to pip. I had some electrical issues (company turned the power off multiple times to work on the system) and I think the delayed hatch was just to much for most of them. :-( However, I think 4 will become 5. I decided to go ahead and clean out the incubator, nobody else had pipped or was showing signs of life, and as I was standing in the kitchen getting ready to throw the eggs away one cheeped at meMade a good sized hole so I could see in there and see what is going on, he/she has pipped the air sack so hopefully in a day or so she'll come out. Already on day 35, but I had 2 that hatched with help this morning that seem to be doing fine. No sense of self preservation LOL
I'm not afraid of you!!
I don't know why it rotated it when I uploaded it, it does that sometimes to my pics and I've never figured out how to make it stop.
Awww. So adorable. Sorry you didn't get more. Though if one was still alive I would check all the others too before tossing them! They could just be quiet.I had 4 of my ducklings hatch out of the 21 I set.
