In the Brooder
Can't runners fly a little though ? Because I just started to notice that when I pick my female up she sometimes will fly right out of my hands into the water with her other friends ?

I prefer to think of it as wing-assisted jumping. Can't runners fly a little though ? Because I just started to notice that when I pick my female up she sometimes will fly right out of my hands into the water with her other friends ?
On a windy day mine will use the wind and get about five feet off the ground.I prefer to think of it as wing-assisted jumping.

In my area we have a local pond where people take their unwanted domestic ducks (or they think they are doing a good thing by "repopulating the pond"...seriously its like a "thing"). Its so terrible, these khakis and pekins are quickly gobbled up or hit by cars. Domestic ducks are bred to be cared for, to be provided food, water, and to be kept safe from predators. In the winter months they still need fresh drinking water and a space to ensure they aren't prey. Perhaps you could find someone who is willing to take the responsibility of them? The only way I see this is getting another type of domesticated animal, like a puppy or kitten, and leaving it to its own devices. Domestic ducks need human intervention to be safe and healthy.![]()
