DUCK HELP PLEASE

Lol...well I can't say I blame them... I once had a dream too... ;)

It paints such a pretty picture, pond, ducks, little ducky paradise... But then when you've actually seen what happens in the wild, especially at night? Not so pretty ducky paradise anymore :(

That's exactly how we lost 6 mallards this spring. Experienced duck owners. 6. Mallards. WILD mallards. Let me say that again. 6. :(

The runners? I lost one. Stupidity. Thinking they would be OK on our OWN creek too. That the mallards would "show" them how to hide and evade.

Wrong.

And I'm 37. :(

I am sorry for your loss, I understand, that's the worst thing I would want to see is them laying up there dead, or breasted open by an another animal.

Ok so I don't know how to start a new thread on here so I'm just gonna ask you guys but yesterday I just noticed that my female black Indian runner has like a foamy white substance coming from the inside of her eye and i think I heard her sneeze like once I'm not sure though it didn't really sound like a sneeze I don't know what it was but I don't know if we can afford to go to the vet. So is my duck gonna go blind if I don't get her medicine and let it go and get better on its own? Or do I have to get her medicine because I would hate to see her go blind at such a young age and I wish I could help her but i dont know how please help me? And ideas? We also live near a pond and I bring them up to the pond a lot and let them swim, could the bacteria from the pond have made her eye infected ? She also eats normal duck food (pellets) like her 2 male friends? She also has all her feathers and she looks all full grown she hasn't layed any eggs yet so is this like a stage?

My first thoughts:

Vetericyn or saline solution for the eye, gently rinse the eye four times a day and please keep us posted.

Two drakes, one female, she is at risk. Thry may be mating with her, and roughly. I would separate her ftom them until her eye is better, at least, and look into getting a few more girls. Or just keep thfm separate.

Ok thanks I will go and get the medicine but 2 questions is it at the pet store or is it given by vets? Also I tryed separating them but she just will quack very loud until her friends meet up with her again then she's fine and also I haven't seen any recent mating activity but I'll try separate if them and keep you updated thanks!!:)

If it's eye ointment it's safe.

Her eye seems to be doing good since I've been putting the Terramycin cream on it I don't really see any foam coming out of her eye, I'm guessing it's getting better because a couple of days ago the foam like kept appearing quickly even like right after I would wash her eye out but I don't see any of it anymore. I put the cream on 4 times a day and I think the box said to do it for a week.
