I caught a baby duck who was alone in the middle of the road and I took it and I still have it and at first I thought it was a drake because of the white rim around the neck but now it’s gone so is it a girl?

In one thread you wrote you caught 10 ducklings in your backyard but here you say you caught a single one in the road. Whatever the case, wild ducks are protected by federal law. You are not supposed to mess with them. If you have any wild ducklings in your possession now you need to contact a wildlife rescue.
"The Migratory Bird Treaty Act makes it illegal for anyone to take, possess, import, export, transport, sell, purchase, barter, or offer for sale, purchase, or barter, any migratory bird, or the parts, nests, or eggs of such a bird except under the terms of a valid permit issued pursuant to Federal regulations."
In case you or anyone else thinks it's not a serious mater here are the penalties.
"The MBTA creates two types of consequences for violations of its provisions: criminal penalties and forfeitures. It is a misdemeanor to violate any provision of the Act with punishment of a maximum fine of $15,000 or imprisonment up to six months or both, (§ 707(a), but it is a felony to “knowingly” take a bird with the intent to sell or to sell a bird with penalty of a maximum fine up to $2,000 or imprisonment up to one year or both. (§ 707(b)-(c))."

Pictures would help determine the sex, but the best way is by voice.
How old is your duck?
It may be too soon to tel if it’s still “peeping” but if it “quacks” it is female, if it is raspy it is a male.
Also, males get a curl at the end of their tails.
