I can't believe there isn't a thread on here to just post pictures of your house/coop/duck area.

Any one want to donate some pictures of their duck coops.

Thanks!

I've been looking as well. I have 4 Pekins and 2 call ducks and I'm looking for some ideas so if anyone has some good duck housing/pen ideas, let us see them!

Here's my idea for the Pekins pen. I'm going to have it 6-8 ft tall. 1/2 inch hardware cloth for the bottom 4 feet. Larger fencing size for the top 2-4 feet.

It's going to be 20ft long x 15ft wide. I'm going to plant at least one, possibly two Australian Willows. I'm also going to add monkey grass and some other acidic loving grasses like that. There will be a pool with a drain in it so they can do swimming. The monkey grass will be planted halfway around the pool in a semi-circle. There will also be some river rock around the other semi-circle of the pool. River rock is smooth so it won't bother their feet when they walk on it.

I'm also going to grow peas and green beans uo the outside of their pen and a patch (not sure of size yet) of white clover for them.

I'm still working on the designing of the pen, but I need ideas for the house.

Here is my prior setup

Ducks really don't need a lot and don't seem to like a shelter, they like to huddle more! Our quick pen consists of horse fencing (2 x 4ish wire) and some fence stakes with a Little Tikes house setting right in the middle, mostly used to keep food dry. Otherwise, they never go in the house. I would post pics but too late and too tired. See website to left to get an idea of my setup. Scroll down till you see ducks and a pen. Good luck!

LOL my ducks are only little at the momment in the brooder but when I used to have ducks before I had a old rubber pond that I flipped over on the ground cut a hole and filled it with hay and they stayed in that in a dog run.

headred, I loved your website. Great idea using a kids sand box for a pool. I'll look for one this spring. I also liked the whole beer, brats and bills thing. I spent yesterday outside eating pizza, drinking beer and watching my goslings play outside in the garden.

As far as a duck house, mine go into the chicken coop at night to be locked up for safety purposes but they would prefer to just sleep out under the stars (or the clouds or the rain drops or whatever). The duck are very hardy and not too picky.
