Duck injured by my dog-question about getting through the night

My pug/terrier mix got into my flock of crested pekin ducklings this evening. He killed 3, the fourth has puncture wounds and a small degloving-type injury, and the fifth duck was unharmed. I am not faulting my dog for doing what his genetics drive him to do (this does not mean that I'm not upset, but he is what he is). I have rinsed the wounds with saline, the two remaining ducklings are together in a warm, dark room, I have given him/her mealworms and he/she is drinking a little water. I am taking him/her to the vet at 6 a.m. (if he survives the night). Any other tips on how to get the duck through shock? Has anyone have a duck that was attacked survive? Any helpful advice?
Thanks in advance.

Sounds like you did what you could. The vet will probably prescribe antibiotics.

It is a really good sign the duck ate.

Quite of a few of the chicken owners have dealt with this. Many times the critters survive.

My bantam rooster was attacked by a fox last summer with numerous puncture wounds as well as basically being defeathered behind his wings. I treated him with triple antibiotic ointment and made vitamin fortified water available to him. He was sore and a little lethargic for a few days but improved daily and is still with me today, almost a year later.

Thanks for the help, I am using antibiotic ointment and he is doing ok for now. He has yet to move on his own, but is eating and drinking. My vet says that ducks are pretty hardy, and he looked at him and said that it will take him a couple of weeks to recover.

I buried the others in my garden.
