hello, I’m morgan and I have an 8 week old Peking duck, Beaker. Beaker started to get a bald spot yesterday. When we put Beaker in to swim with her best friend Eggbert, the Cayuga duck, She started to quack loudly. Eggbert was nipping at the same spot over and over again. The spot now (the next day) is greenish blue. Is doesn’t feel like puss. I tried washing it with warm water and unscented soap but I did not come off. Beaker and Eggbert have been raised together since they were a week old and HATE being separated. They are imprinted on each other and follow each other around and don’t know if separating them would be healthy. I put Neosporin on the wound but doesn’t seem to be helping

its most likely to just be an nasty bruise.i would try to bandage it if possible to prevent further incidents, but i would try not to separate because it may cause problems.

It just looks like a bruise to me. It doesn't look infected or anything. I agree with @QuailExpert at maybe trying to find a way to cover it so that the others aren't so enticed to keep pecking at that spot and making it worse.
Is there a certain type of bandage I should use? I’m a first time duck owner and not super experienced. I’m very worried about her

i would try and find a roll/wrap of some sort made of cotton and wrap it around after applying medication. I dont think that there is any waterproof but you can check. basically any brand would work

I have not yet attempted to bandage a duck, but if you go to any farm or pet store and purchase vet wrap, I think this would be a good product to try. It comes on a roll like wide medical tape, but it only sticks to itself so it won't stick to the feathers. It's also a bit stretchy. I use it for my dogs all the time because it doesn't stick to their fur.

Here is a random link online so you can see what it looks like.
